Custom Anchor Snubber

An anchor snubber is an essential piece of equipment on any boat that has an all chain anchor rode.

Our anchor snubbers are made from 3 strand nylon due to its ability to stretch and absorb shock. One end of the anchor snubber is terminated with a 400mm spliced soft eye for connecting to a bow cleat, the other end terminated with a 316 stainless steel thimble to receive a shackle and anchor chain hook (sold separately)

 

Anchor Snubber VS Anchor Bridle?

An Anchor Snubber is a single line that attaches to one bow cleat, then runs through the anchor roller or anchor pocket and connects to the anchor chain. The chain is then let out until it is slack so that all loads are transferred through the snubber to the bow cleat.​

 

An anchor bridle / anchor snubber both remove the load from the anchor winch and are easy to deploy. A single line snubber is great on smaller day boats where time and space are both factors. While our anchor snubbers will stretch and provide shock absorption, their primary function is to remove the loads from the anchor winch which is why we offer shorter lengths. 

 

When choosing a snubber, be mindful of the depth of water you will be anchoring in. A long snubber in shallow water may cause the anchor chain hook to bounce around on the bottom and become disconnected. ​Also be mindful of bow cleat locations and the anchor roller. A snubber will not suit all boats. Refer to images below for clarity.

​​A snubber is not a good choice for the boat above. The bow cleat location and bow roller design will result in side loading that will likely bend the bow roller leading to expensive repairs or replacement. 

​

A centralised cleat near the anchor winch or a solid anchor pocket are the preferred option for a single line snubber set up.
